Q&A: Tips from our Top Correspondent Performer Joe Villani

Spotlighting one of our top correspondent performers, TMS sat down with Joe Villani, Senior Vice President of the Correspondent Division, to learn more about his tips on how to grow your business!

Q: What’s your favorite quote?

A: It takes years to be an overnight success.

Q: How do you stay motivated in your career?

A: It is important to hold yourself accountable. Your success or failure is directly related to the effort you put in to every task.

Q: What’s the secret to success?

A: Consistency is the foundation for future success

Q: How do you make sure you’re constantly challenging and growing your career?

A: I surround myself with likeminded friends and team members who are constantly raising the bar in all aspects of life. If you do that, you’ll stay challenged in everything you do.

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to clients to grow their business?

A: Look beyond the transaction and realize there’s a lot more that goes into buying and selling loans. If you really want to grow your business, you’ll change your perspective and realize that there’s a home and a person behind every loan.

Q: Where do you often see clients go wrong when selling their loans?

A: Time and time again I see people focus only on best price. But, the issue is that they’re stuck in an outdated way of looking at best price, missing out on of the most important variable — the customer.
We emphasize this all the time at TMS, but clients need to start realizing that how the customer is treated post-sale impacts their profitability and growth long term. If a client starts to value the customer and not just best price, they’ll create long-term stability with repeat customers who know they can trust them. That’s real success!
